about scottworks
The name was lifted out of the Scottworks Festival, a community-led Raymond Scott celebration. This Modern Scottworks is a Raymond Scott tribute spanning both media and music. It was created by James Flournoy as a way to celebrate and support The Raymond Scott Archives. The project began unintentionally with the release of his first tribute album, RAYMIX SCOTT, building on earlier rearrangements of Raymond Scott’s works for the Super Mario Bros. Remix and Super Mario Bros. Encore mappacks for Mari0: AE — echoing the style of Carl Stalling.
His online name was Gameboi64. A few months after RAYMIX SCOTT was done, he adopted the name Nethersei, leaving behind his former moniker.
The idea for the album Man VS Machine came after watching a live performance of Machine/Man featuring Steve Bartek and Ego Plum. Around the same time, Nethersei and his partner were developing a mini-documentary titled Artifacts From The Archives (inspired by the PDF of the same name available on the official Raymond Scott site), exploring Scott’s life and legacy. These two projects merged, giving rise to Scottworks. Nethersei creates music through the digital Scottworks Orchestra, under the label Powerhouse Inc.
It is essential to note that Scottworks does not make any money from this.
Any money made will go directly back into The Raymond Scott Archives.
